    • Step 1

Press the slats together tightly and clamp them with rubber bands. Be careful not to bind the strings on the blinds.
    • Step 2

Use masking tape to bind the ends of the slats so as not to have wood chips everywhere and to ensure a cleaner cut.

    • Step 3

Measure the amount that needs to be taken off and mark with a pencil.
    • Step 4

Using a chop saw or miter saw, cut through the tape and slats.
    • Step 5

Remove the remaining tape and examine your work. The blinds should now fit the window.
    • Skill: Moderately Easy
    • Ingredients:
    • Pencil
    • Masking tape
    • Ruler
    • Chop saw or miter saw
    • Tip: Cutting your own blinds should be a last resort. Sending the blinds back to the manufacturer should be the first option, or consider taking them back to the store they were purchased from to possibly swap for a better fitting set.

    • Remember, repairs or modifications may void the warranty.
