Overview
Wood blinds are a beautiful addition to the decor of any home, but occasionally they end up being too wide for the intended space. Here's a simple way to cut wood blinds to better fit a window.
How to Cut Wood Blinds
-
Step 1
Press the slats together tightly and clamp them with rubber bands. Be careful not to bind the strings on the blinds. -
Step 2
Use masking tape to bind the ends of the slats so as not to have wood chips everywhere and to ensure a cleaner cut. -
Step 3
Measure the amount that needs to be taken off and mark with a pencil. -
Step 4
Using a chop saw or miter saw, cut through the tape and slats. -
Step 5
Remove the remaining tape and examine your work. The blinds should now fit the window.
- Skill: Moderately Easy
- Ingredients:
- Pencil
- Masking tape
- Ruler
- Chop saw or miter saw
- Tip: Cutting your own blinds should be a last resort. Sending the blinds back to the manufacturer should be the first option, or consider taking them back to the store they were purchased from to possibly swap for a better fitting set.
- Warning:
- Remember, repairs or modifications may void the warranty.
