In general it's simply working slower and deeper into the muscle on a person for more of a corrective type of massage as opposed to just relaxation or stress reduction. And there are a couple of differences for the overall models that people use. Some people use a lot of pressure where it's painful and the client is expected to just deal with that. And then there are a whole lot of us that don't do that, we look at the ecological level. This just means a level where it's deep but the body isn't guarding or defending against that pressure because it hurts. This is where the body is able to easily open up and let go and it's more of a respectable way of working with the muscles. The person would probably be sore if the person doesn't tell the practitioner what's deep enough. That's not how we teach it here, but certain people do that kind of work and people get sore. But their problem's symptoms diminish too. On the surface, it looks like it works.
