Party rental companies typically aim to please their customers at all costs. Their desire is to obtain satisfied customers and thus create lots of repeat business. Different party companies have different policies and procedures, however, and that is the case, too, when it comes to the delivery processes of individual companies. It is imperative to ask your party rental company about their delivery policy right up front, maybe even prior to making any actual arrangements.

Keith Krantz is the owner and operator of Grand Central Party Rental, which is located in Nashville, Tennessee. Before starting this particular company, Krantz spent 23 years working in international sales. He ascertains that his company definitely works hard to earn their client's repeat business, and in doing so tries to make the customer as happy as possible with their delivery options.

"It helps when the customer knows exactly what it is they're looking for," Krantz says. "When they have their actual venue selected or know that a party rental will take place at their own home, we can start to make our plans from there."

Since every venue has different rules, it's a must to know those rules ahead of time if your party rental is being set up in a rented hall or involves a tent being set up in a park or other public or private location. Start by getting those rules in writing and then stipulate what needs to be done when to the party rental company. Krantz believes that most business aim to cooperate as fully with their customers as possible.

"Sometimes things have to be picked up the night of an event," he says. "Others can't be dropped off until the actual day of the event. On the opposite end we might have to pick up items on Friday but won't be able to return and collect them until the following Monday. If possible, we always try to set up an event as early as possible. That way if there is special lighting involved or some type of elaborate decoration, we can be sure that the customer is completely satisfied, ahead of the start of the party or event."

Some items like tents must be set up and taken down by party rental company employees. This is due largely to insurance regulations. Other items like linens and dishes can usually be packed away by the renters and stored until the party rental company comes to pick up the crates or bins. Ask up front about the party rental company's delivery policy. There may even be some items that you can pick up and return yourselves. This may or may not save money, depending on the individual company policy, but may be more convenient that waiting for the rental employees to return to your home.

As with anything, ask lots of questions before signing on the dotted line. Call shortly before your event to confirm delivery and destination times and locations. Even party rental companies hire human beings, and all humans are fallible. Give them the benefit of the doubt and they will likely put forth their very best efforts to ensure your party or event goes off successfully.
