Step 1
Make sure your printer is compatible with your computer. This product supports Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista.

Make sure both your printer and your computer are turned on.

Check the USB Cable. Make sure it is firmly connected to both the computer and your printer.
Or: Shut down your computer, reconnect the USB cable firmly to both the computer and printer, then restart you computer. This should help your computer read the new device.

Install the software. Insert the disc into your computer's disc drive; an installation screen will appear. Click "Install" and follow the prompts.

Set up your printer as the default printer on your computer.
For Windows XP, click the "Start" button in the bottom left corner of your toolbar. Click on "Control Panel." Find the "Printers" folder and open "Printer." Right-click on "Dell Photo Printer 720" and select "Default."
For Windows 2000, click "Start," then "Settings," then "Printers." Right-click on "Dell Photo Printer 720" and select "Default."

If your printer is still not working correctly, or you are getting an error message, remove the software and reinstall.
Click the "Start" icon again, then "Programs" or "All Programs," "Dell Printers," "Dell Photo Printer 720" and finally "Uninstall."
To reinstall, refer to Step 4.

Check the ink cartridges. Ensure that they are installed correctly, and that the safety tape has been removed.

Make sure the paper is inserted correctly and that there are no jams. Remove any jams and restart the printer.

Use the correct paper--only that which is recommended for your printer.
