Delray Beach is on the east coast of Florida in the southern part of Palm Beach County. We are located about halfway between Palm Beach International Airport and Fort Lauderdale. We almost always have sunny blue skies. The population is approximately 60,000 inside the city and closer to 90,000 including the surrounding areas. Delray Beach enjoys quite a diverse population. Our earliest roots include an African American community, and we also had a model colony where Japanese settlers started pineapple farms. Today we have about 67% white, 27% African American, and a small mix of many other races.

Delray Beach is one of the oldest cities in this area. In fact, it's over 100 years old, so one of the unique things about our city is that it evolved naturally as a traditional downtown where many other cities in south Florida have nice beaches and things like that. We have a very efficient transportation grid so that people who come here can pretty much park their car and enjoy walking to restaurants or entertainment districts, or taking historic tours. We have tourists who literally park their car and then don't get back in it until they are ready to leave the area.
