There are some from Hawaii. There are others called buckfast bees. I used to use Caucasian bees but now I use Italian bees. They all have different characteristics; some of them produce more honey, some of them are gentler, and some of them have more resistance to the mites. About four years ago, I lost over a hundred hives within one summer because of mites. It's pretty devastating. Honeybees are only one of about 30 different kinds of bees. It is the only bee that produces honey, so it's called the honeybee. There is an alkaline bee and there are wood bees and more. Alkaline bees live out in the west. They live in the earth or in the alkaline soil. They are called the alkaline bees. Wood bees live in the wood.
