Some different types of ear piercings are lobe, cartilage, tragus (the lump in the front of your ear beside your face) and the industrial piercing that goes through the cartilage on the outside then through the rook (fold above tragus) with a long bar. The industrial piercings we are doing as a double piercing and they cost approximately $90. Piercing ears and cartilage cost approximately $40-50.
A cartilage ear piercing is different in that you have to go slightly larger with the needle than the ring. The reason for this is getting room for healing. If it is too tight, you can see cartilage. It will not heal well. That area is prone to getting an infection and/or a scar. So you want to take out a little bigger hole, but it will heal better. Or you can use smaller jewelry to have a little more room in there. There is very little danger in gauged ear piercing. It doesn't seem to bother anybody; we do it all the time.
