Basically, there are two different types of dishwashers. There are electrical, mechanical models, which are called timer models, and electronic controlled models, which use a computer board. As far as the rest of the components throughout the dishwasher industry it is basically the same... taking the spray arms and pushing water through those spray arms to clean the dishes. Whirlpool KitchenAid models are all front serviceable, and that's very helpful for the technician. They don't have to pull the dishwasher out to service it. When they do have to uninstall a dishwasher to repair, it opens up more problems as far as leak points and damage to the consumers' floor or linoleum or surrounding cabinet.
