Step 1
Telephone the company that is monitoring the home alarm system and ask them to completely turn off the monitoring of the system. You can find the name of the monitoring company on the alarm itself. Typically the phone number to the company is located on the guide book that came with the system. You may have to input a security password to turn off the system.
-
Step 2
Locate each of the control panels in the house and each of the power transformers belonging to the unit. The transformer is typically a small unit plugged into a nearby outlet. If you cannot locate the transformers, you may need to request an electrical layout of your house.
-
Step 3
Unplug the transformers for each unit. The alarm control panels should be operating on battery power alone before the next step.
-
Step 4
Use the screwdriver to open up the control panels and remove the battery connection to the circuit board.
-
Step 5
Check that the unit you are disabling has powered off and no longer has a power source. This will leave the system in a cold state with no electricity flowing through.
-
Step 6
Remove the control panels and any other undesirable components you may wish to be rid of.
