    DISH Network
    DISH Network is one of the leading satellite television programming providers in the Untied States of America. It supplies DBS (direct broadcast satellite) services and products to its clientele. DISH Network is a division of DISH Network Corp. It together with DirecTV (its rival satellite provider), contend with cable television companies to supply television services. DISH Network has operated for more than 20 years and is responsible for many innovations in the satellite service industry.
  • History

    DISH Network began as EchoStar Communications Corp. in 1980. Charlie Ergen, who is the company CEO and chairman, created it as a C band TV systems provider. In 1987, EchoStar submitted for a DBS license with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). It gained access to the 119-degree west longitude orbital slot in 1992. EchoStar I (first satellite) was launched in December 1995 and began broadcasting to its first customers early the next year. In 1998, the company acquired most of the transponder licenses of the 110-degree west orbital slot. EchoStar purchased Voom, which was a HDTV DBS company. This permitted an expansion of HDTV programming. On the first day of the year in 2008, EchoStar Communications Corp. was divided into two individual businesses: EchoStar Corp. and DISH Network Corp.

    DISH Network is a company that offers satellite TV, interactive TV services and audio programming. It is used in homes and businesses all over the United States. This service can be obtained by anyone who pays for it and can pick up the required satellite signal. To receive DISH Network broadcasts, you must have a satellite and receiver installed.

    DISH Network offers many types of programming packages. The featured ones include "America's Top- 100, 200 and 250" channel packages, the "America's Everything Pak" that has 30 additional channels and others. You can obtain Latino or International satellite programming packages as well. DISH Network also has various HD (high-definition), DVR (digital video recorder), sports-related and additional services available that you can include in your package.

    DISH Network was the first company to accomplish several things in the satellite industry. This includes being the first to offer a receiver for under $200, a network specifically for satellite television systems and a UHF remote. DISH Network was also the first to offer its customers a receiver with integrated DVR, local channels to all 50 states and multi-room HD and DVR satellite receivers.
  • Identification

    DISH Network has used and still makes use of several satellite dishes. It depends on your satellite programming services as to which particular dish you would need. Some of the satellite dishes were designed to specifically pick up international or HD programming. The various dishes include the following: DISH 300, 500 and 1000; along with the SuperDISH, DISH 500+ and DISH 1000+.
