There are several organizations in the Dallas metroplex that accept car donations, and the process required to hand over the vehicle is often a quick and painless procedure.

Step 1
Remove all personal belongings from the car. Once you donate the car, you likely won't be able to access your vehicle again. Therefore, it is important to ensure that all personal items are safely removed. -
Step 2
Locate the vehicle's title, keys and registration. These are the items Dallas charities require to be handed over with the car. If you don't have the vehicle title, you will have to contact the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles to obtain a new one. -
Step 3
Choose which charity you would like to donate your car to. There are no added benefits for choosing one charity over another. Therefore, your decision will likely be dictated by which cause you are most interested in supporting. Step 4
Contact your charity of choice. This can be done by calling them directly. Some charities also make vehicle donation applications available online. -
Step 5
Arrange a time to have the vehicle picked up. Many charities will send a tow truck to pick up the car, so you don't need to worry about whether or not it is in working order. When the tow truck arrives, you will need to sign over the title. The charity should also give you some form of documentation that allows you to legitimately write off your donation for tax purposes.

Donate to Teddy Bear Cops. Teddy Bear Cops is a Texas-based foundation that sends teddy bears to Dallas and Houston area police and fire departments so that they can be given to kids who have undergone tragic events. Step 3
Donate to Habitat for Humanity. The Dallas area Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to building housing for low-income families in the DFW metroples.
