Give your car to the Portland Rescue Mission. The Portland Rescue Mission provides shelter, clothing and food for homeless men, women and children throughout Portland. Your donated vehicle will be sold, and the proceeds from that sale will fund programs and services offered by the Mission. Your car will be towed for free, and you will receive a tax receipt once the car as been sold. For more information, call (503) 647-7466.

Step 2
Contact Ride Connection. Ride Connection is responsible for providing transportation for senior citizens and other individuals throughout the Portland area who either cannot afford a car or use vehicles themselves due to a disability. Your car will be sold to fund assistance offered by Ride Connection, and you will receive a letter from the organization after the sale of your vehicle. Step 3
Donate your car to the Start Making A Reader Today (SMART) program. This organization offers assistance for young children who are struggling to learn how to read by providing one-on-one tutoring as well as books for these children. SMART works with Charitable Auto Resources Inc, a company that will pick up your vehicle anywhere in Portland for free and take care of all of the paperwork for you. Step 4
Support the Oregon Humane Society with a vehicle donation. OHS works to find homes for abandoned and orphaned pets, offers training for new pet owners and provides medical care for injured animals. You can donate a car, truck, RV, boat or jet ski to OHS. They will take care of the towing and DMV paperwork for you. To learn more, call (503) 416-7079.
