Drink Recipes For Christmas

When Christmas starts coming around the bend, there is much to prepare for. If you are having a Christmas dinner at your home, there are decorations to be strewn, trees to be trimmed, gifts to be bought and wrapped and menus to be planned. What better addition to a hearty feast could there be than an after-dinner drink for the adults as they sit around, stomachs full of good food and reminiscing on Christmases past? Here are some Christmas-inspired drinks to help get everyone in the family in a more festive frame of mind this Christmas.

Mulled Wine

What says Christmas more than the sweet smell of cinnamon coming from the pot of mulled wine? It is much simpler to make than you may think. Take the zest of one lemon and one orange and throw it into a pot with half a cup of water, half a cup of sugar, four cinnamon sticks and five cloves. Let the mixture slowly come to a boil and let it heat for five minutes. Remove the mixture from the heat and slowly stir in two bottles of your favorite red wine. Slice up the lemon and orange you zested earlier and add this to the mixture. Warm the entire mixture for forty minutes on low heat, being sure not to let the mixture boil. Once it is warm, strain the mixture and pour into serving glasses.

Candy Cane Cocktail

For a shot that will quickly hit the spot, make this minty drink. Combine half an ounce of peppermint-flavored schnapps with a splash of grenadine. Shake well and strain the mixture into a shot glass.

Holiday Cider

Cider is another favorite warm drink during the holiday season. Mix one gallon of apple cider with six cinnamon sticks in a pot that is set to medium heat and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and slowly mix in one and a half cups of rum, one cup of peach-flavored brandy and three-quarters of a cup of peach-flavored schnapps. Let the mixture get hot (but do not let it boil again). This recipe should make eighteen servings.

Christmas Punch

For a wonderfully tasty Christmas punch, try this recipe. In a large punch bowl, combine two bottles of chilled white wine (750 ml), one tablespoon of dark rum, one-third cup of peach-flavored schnapps, two tablespoons of triple sec and one and a half cups each of apple juice and mandarin juice. Slice up three star fruits and four peaches in thick slices. Stir the fruit into the punch and refrigerate for one hour. Be sure to keep the punch covered while refrigerating.

Holiday Bellini

Nothing is more refreshing than a Bellini after a holiday feast or during a holiday breakfast. This recipe will make eight servings. In a blender, blend two peaches that have been coarsely chopped with half a cup of peach-flavored schnapps until the mixture is smooth. In a pitcher, mix this blended peach mixture with one bottle (750 ml) of champagne that has been chilled (it is very important that the champagne has been chilled). In each of the champagne flutes, put one sugar cube and then cover with the Bellini mixture for a fantastic peachy drink.
