Easter Crafts: Sparkly Easter Egg Decorating Ideas

Learn how to add a bit of sparkle to your Easter eggs with the egg decorating projects featured in this easy-to-follow guide.

If you're like most people, you've probably dyed your Easter eggs for years. In fact, you've probably never even thought about decorating your eggs any other way. However, that's all about to change. Read on to learn about several sparkly Easter egg projects that are sure to leave you thinking about trying something new.

Rhinestones- Add a touch of glitz and glam to your Easter eggs with the help of a few rhinestones. These inexpensive jewels are available at craft stores in a wide array of shapes and sizes. Just select the ones that meet your fancy, and attach them to your eggs using glue. Note: For an even easier project look for rhinestones with an adhesive back. Then, all you have to do is peel and stick!

Metallic paint- You don't need the famed "Goose that Laid the Golden Egg" to create a basket of golden beauties. Just pick up some metallic paint from your local craft store, and apply it with a brush. For the best results, a second coat of paint may need to be applied.

Glitter- For a little sparkle and shine, glitter is the material of choice! Pick up a bottle of glitter and some school glue from a craft or discount store. Then, apply a coat of glue to the entire surface of the egg, and roll it in the glitter. For even more glittery fun, try drawing designs on the egg in glue. Then, when you roll the egg in glitter, it will only stick to the areas where the glue has been applied.

Foil- If you're looking for a quick and easy project, foil is the perfect solution. Just purchase a box of foil from the grocery store, and tear off small pieces to cover the egg. Since the foil molds to the shape of the egg, there's no need for messy glue or tape. Then, go a step further, and use a pencil to etch designs into the surface of the foil.

Hologram paper- Create a holographic surface for your eggs by attaching bits of hologram paper to the shell. Visit the scrapbook section of your local craft store for a wide selection of holographic paper. Then, simply cut the paper into confetti-sized pieces, and glue them to the egg. Note: Craft punches can be used to create all sorts of interesting shapes, so pick one up, and give it a try!

Stickers- Add a bit of personality to your eggs by decorating with stickers that are as sparkly as you. Just shop around for the perfect stickers; then, once you've found the ones you want to use; pull them off the sheet; and apply them to your eggs. Note: Sparkly letter stickers offer the perfect way to customize eggs with a name or special message.

Forget about those Easter egg dye kits. This year it's time to try something new. Pick one of these fun project ideas, and incorporate a little sparkle into your Easter celebration.
