If you want to be totally, totally technical about it, Egyptian cotton is any cotton grown in Egypt. Generally, Egyptian cotton refers to the quality or class of cotton grown in Egypt. Usually, it is on extra long-staple fibers. This means that the cotton fibers are longer. They are more luxurious. They give when they are woven into a fabric. This makes the fabric softer and durable. The same features that you find in Egyptian cotton are also in Pima cotton and Supima cotton. These are grown here in the United States. Generally, all three of those are what are called 'premium fibers.' They do give an extra softness and a longer lasting durability to the product.
