Entertainment in Berea, KY. There is something to do year round in Berea, Kentucky. From arts & crafts festivals and workshops to theatre performances and folk dancing, there's something for everyone. There...

There is usually something going on in the evenings year round. We have a concert series in the summer. We have the college theater group that does a series of twelve plays during the school term and that's open to the public. The college also offers a series where speakers and musicians come in every week on Thursday and the public again is invited at no charge to participate in that. So there is always something to do. At www.berea.com you can look at our calendar of events.

Beginning in late March we have Celebration Working Hands where we invite people to come in and see the artists at work. The galleries and studios are all open during that time. We go into a Bluegrass festival in June. In July we have our major craft festival. It's been going on for probably 30 years. In September we have a local community festival called Spoon Bread. In October we have the Kentucky Guild Of Artist And Craftsman Fair, which is one of the oldest craft organizations in the United States. November we start our Christmas sales at Church Oliver's which is the oldest and largest hand loom industry in the country today. They will do a sale along with Berea College. Then comes the Christmas parade and other holiday festivities. From the 26th of December through January 1st our Christmas Country Dance School takes place, which is one of the oldest folk dance schools in America. I think the oldest one is John C. Campbell in North Carolina and the Berea Christmas Country Dance School is number two. They will bring in 200-300 people literally from around the world to do folk dance, music, and that sort of thing.
