We have a lot of special events all year long. Ghost Walk is always held on the fourth Saturday in October. It's a guided tour of our historic homes district. Along the way, costumed people recreate some of the ghost stories that we have heard from the various homeowners who have lived and worked in the area over the years. We do 22 tours, and usually they will all sell out. Halloween is important to us, because Nevada became a state on October 31st. We have a special event called Nevada Day with the largest parade in Nevada taking place right here on Carson Street. There are nearly 200 entries, a rock drilling contest, a beard growing contest, and an 1864 Ball. A lot of people have a 3-day weekend to attend the event. We usually have 20,000 to 30,000 people here for the parade.

In August we have the Silver Dollar Car Classic. It's a car show that happens here in Carson City the weekend before Hot August Nights, which is the big car show in Reno. We usually have several hundred classic cars.

The second weekend in June is our Carson City Rendezvous located in Mills Park in which we recreate an Old West encampment with mountain men, civil war volunteers, and Native American encampments. We have gun fighters, a huge arts and crafts section, a big food court, and free entertainment the whole weekend. That usually draws 10,000 to 15,000 people. It's great for families because it's both fun and educational for the kids. On the Saturday after Rendezvous is a big event that's popular with locals called A Taste of Downtown. It's a domestic violence benefit in which you buy a wristband to walk among 25 restaurants downtown tasting different foods and drinks. There are 7 to 9 bands playing throughout the downtown area during the event.

Over Memorial Day Weekend we have a Wild West Tour in our historic district on Kit Carson Trail. It's similar to the ghost tour except it has tales of things that happened here back in the Old West. Costumed guys take you on guided tours inside the homes to see recreations of some of the quirky things that happened back then. Kids will love that one.
