Spring is a pretty quiet time, but as the summer approaches we more events going on. We have a Blues Festival in June and a big Arts and Crafts Festival in July. It has actually been ranked as one of the top festivals in the United States. The horse track has events like concert series that they bring in all summer long. The Inn of the Mountain Guards does the same thing. In May we have a small motorcycle rally that comes in. We get about 15,000 at that one, but we get 35,000 at the one in September. Our Aspen Fest is in October as is our Chuck Wagon Cook-Off. It's part of the Lincoln County Cowboy Symposium and has been rated as the top cowboy event in the nation. It's one of The American Bus Association's top 100 events and has been featured on the Food Channel several times. Octoberfest weekend brings in a band from Germany, German beer, and German dancers. Right after Thanksgiving we have what's called A Festival of Light in which the whole town is lit up by little white twinkling lights and our trees are lit in the park. We have a big outdoor electric parade at night. The Mardi Gras celebration is in February, I believe. We also have a History Fest that tells the story of Billy the Kid and of the area.
