Events In St. Helens, Oregon

In July, of course, there's the 4th of July celebration, which brings over 5,000 people into to our small downtown. This year we had close to 9,000 people here in one afternoon to watch fireworks. The fireworks are set off from Sand Island, which is the island out in the Columbia River. It's really unique. We have food vendors and light music as well. The Columbia County Fair is also held during the last part of July.

In 2006 we are supposed to have a Riverside Art Festival during the second weekend in August. What's unique about that is that we have a lot of nationally, regionally, and locally known artists that are based in Columbia County. They're very talented people who live and work out in the backwoods and then bring their art to town or across the nation. We're lucky to have them as resources.

The weekend before Thanksgiving we have a holiday gift show in the area. It's not really a festival, though. It's more of a fun, small town shopping experience.
