This is a little confusing because at the same time the Louis' are doing their thing, back in England and in the rest of the world, King George and his group of world rulers are making their influence without the ornate gilts and without the mirrors and flash of colors. They are making their influence known in a sturdier opting and more comfortable chairs but they still have refinement. This is also when the age of colonialism is starting. They are starting to venture forth to China and some of the Asiatic countries and they are starting to bring back some of these ideas. They are also starting to hear stories about the Greeks who had columns, interesting designs, and clean lines juxtaposed with other coloration and textures. So you begin seeing the Chinese and Asiatic influences along with the Greek, and this is being brought about by Queen Anne and Chippendale features.
