Family Vacation Destinations

If you are looking for a great family vacation destination, you should consider Cape Cod, Orlando, Carlsbad, Hawaii, or Kitty Hawk.

Cape Cod

Cape Cod, a small peninsula off the southeastern coast of Massachusetts, is one of the foremost family vacation destinations on the east coast. From beaches to historic monuments, Cape Cod has plenty of great activities and attractions to keep your family entertained and happy. Pilgrim Monument is one of the best historic sights to visit with your family. Unlike museums (which often leave kids bored and ornery), this monument allows you to get involved. Pilgrim Monument was built in 1910 to commemorate the pilgrims signing the Mayflower Compact (the pilgrims actually stopped in Provincetown before going to Plymouth Rock"¦ little known fact). You and your family can climb the stairs to get to the top of this two-hundred and fifty-two foot tall monument, and the view of the Cape from the top is absolutely breathtaking. Race Point Beach, which is also in Provincetown, is known for its great rolling waves and beautiful soft sands. Cape Cod is packed with very well-maintained, scenic Atlantic Ocean beaches that are perfect for swimming, building sand castles, and soaking up some sun. Another plus to Cape Cod being right on the Atlantic is that the local restaurants have amazing seafood selections - don't forget to try some New England clam chowder!

Orlando

Orlando, Florida is definitely a front-runner for family vacations. After all, they've got the hands-down hottest theme parks in the United States. Walt Disney World is sure to be a hit for kids of all ages - adults enjoy it just as much as their children do! From roller coasters to gourmet meals, you're family will never be bored on a Disney vacation. You can either stay at a Disney resort, or you can stay at a hotel, resort, or rental home in the Orlando area instead. Universal Orlando Resort is another premier Orlando hotspot. They have top-notch resorts, live entertainment, great rides and coasters, and plenty of fun restaurants to choose from, such as their "Captain America Diner." At both Disney and Orlando, your kids can meet and greet some of their favorite movie and cartoon characters.

Carlsbad

Carlsbad, California is home to another excellent family vacation destination: LegoLand. Carlsbad is about thirty minutes north of San Diego, and LegoLand is actually located on One LegoLand Drive! This park has over fifty rides, many of which have no height requirement, so even young kids can get involved. LegoLand offers not only fun, but hands-on education as well. There "Dig Those Dinos" attraction lets kids play archaeologists by digging in the sand for reproductions of prehistoric skeletal remains, bones, claws, and teeth. Another excellent educational attraction is their Musical Fountain that allows kids to get to know different instruments and interact by hopping up and down to make the instruments play some tunes. All over this park you will see impressive Lego-built structures, such as a bust of Abraham Lincoln and a replica of the white house.

Hawaii

If you can afford to splurge for your family vacation, you should consider going to Hawaii. Hawaii isn't the ideal vacation destination for young kids, although they could certainly have fun at the beaches, but it is great for teenagers"¦ and even better for parents! The natural beauty is captivating. The top places for tourism in Hawaii are Kauai, Lanai, Maui, and Oahu. And if you think the only things to do in Hawaii are swim, tan, and swill frozen drinks, you're wrong. You can go snorkeling, or you can go on a submarine tour, go sport fishing, golfing, or horseback riding.

Kitty Hawk

If you are seeking a laid-back family vacation, you should consider a trip to Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. This quaint and old-fashioned town, located on the outer banks of North Carolina, is known for its lovely beach community and its maritime forest called Kitty Hawk Woods. If you live in a big city, a visit to Kitty Hawk is a great way to expose your children to "country living," a slower-paced life without all the hustle and bustle of a booming metropolis. Kitty Hawk Beach is very well-maintained and picturesque, and the waters are fairly calm and warm most of the time.
