These professionals listen to doctors' dictions and transcribe them into reports or other types of correspondence. But the majority of employees that hire Medical Transcriptions require a certificate or training from a vocational program. Although these programs take up to nine months to complete, individuals can ramp up study hours to complete sooner. Here's a guide to fast medical transcription training programs.

      Check out Gatlin Education Services. This program is self paced, so you can finish it as quickly as you like. There are 240 credit hours to complete, which can be accomplished online. And if you aren't getting through the coursework as quickly as you like, the program allows a one time extension.

      Consider applying to the Medical Transcription Education Center. This program is completed in an online environment with an instructor assigned to mentor you. Since the program is self paced, you can start and complete anytime. Tuition cost $1,925 for their basic program which prepares you to start your own medical transcription business or work for a medical practice. They also offer career services to assist with job placement.

      Ashworth University's Medical Transcription program offers a fast-track option, which allows you to complete the course quicker then the six months allotted. Students have the option of completing the course online or by correspondence with workbooks and CD-ROM.

      Complete a Free Application for Student Federal Aid. Medical Transcription Training can cost between $1,000 and $3,000 to complete. Completing the FASA application will allow you to apply for federal grants and student loans to pay for your education. Also, check with the school you choose for available scholarship programs and additional financial assistance. Some schools offer interest-free monthly payment plans.

      Build a study schedule for your program. Since the majority of medical transcription programs can be completed at your own pace, you can finish programs early by creating a schedule. For example, if a program typically takes six months to complete studying 2 hours a day, instead increase your study time to 4 hours a day to finish in half the time.
