Well, depending on what stroke you want to swim then size does matter. There are basically the four strokes are broken into two descriptions. Free style and backstrokes are referred to as long axis strokes and that's because the body rotates from the head to the toes like a spindle on a record player going back and forth side to side. I guess like the center of a washing machine would be a good way to describe it whereas breaststroke and butterfly are called the short axis. They rotate around the short line through the hips and they are more of an undulating or a dolphin like movement. The advantage for long axis swimmers is by being very tall, they cut a longer, sleeker line through the water and it actually allows them to go faster. Whereas the short axis, this almost can be not quite as tall. They are enough to be 6-3, 6-4 anything like that or for girls you know six feet, because the rotation of the body. If it's quicker around that shorter line, it generally allows people to go a little bit faster. So you find different body types are better at different strokes. But every time you make a rule, someone goes out there and does something that you didn't think they could. There really aren't any rules, they were just generalizations.
