It's related to the metal element, coins being money and metal. The Chinese coin is a circle with a square hole in the middle. The circle represents heaven and the square represents earth. Chinese coins have been used traditionally for Iching. They're considered to be good luck. Sometimes you see a frog with a coin in its mouth. It's the Chinese symbol for good luck or prosperity, and you can also hang a string of coins in the area of the Bagua called the wealth area to enhance your prosperity.

The whole idea is to create unity. As we are working with all of these tools, whatever they are, whether it is the mirror,or water, or metal, or anything that we are trying to pull into a space and harmonize, the idea is to create unity or oneness. So the center of the compass and the Bagua is the symbol, yin-yang, and that's the masculine-feminine principle. So when any duality is brought into harmony it creates this feeling of unity.
