During the summer, I would head over to the North End, which is the Boston's Italian neighborhood. A lot of Europeans feel very at home in Boston because it has got narrow streets and it sort of has a European flavor to it. If you head over to the North End, you will find the most unbelievable restaurants of all times. You can't go wrong in visiting any of them. They are all really tiny. Sometimes you have to wait, but every other store front is a restaurant over in the North End. During the weekends in the summer time, they have North End Italian Festival, which are religious processions and street fairs. They go on every weekend and that is a lot of fun. That's really cool. There are things that go on, the Boston marathon takes place in April of every year and that of course a lot of fun. It is a 26.2 mile course. It starts out in Hockington and then it goes through eight cities and towns and ends up in Boston. So, that is a very big event. Of course the 4th of July is huge in Boston. In fact, the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra is a nationally televised event that takes place every year. Conductor Keith Lockhart leads the "Boston Pops" which is over on the Charles River Esplanade and they play great music during this 4th of July celebration. That's of course followed by fireworks and there are thousands and thousands of people down at that, but it's a lot of fun and you shouldn't decide not to come because there are a lot of people because you can still navigate it. It's really great and here is a tip, on July 3rd they do a rehearsal concert and you can get in and see all the music and then the next day find a better spot to watch the fireworks.
The Head of the Charles Regatta is one of the world's largest rowing championship events. It is very famous and it takes place mostly on the Cambridge side of the Charles River in October, usually around the 22nd. That's really a big event; very fun, and very Boston. While it is not actually in Boston, you can take the commuter rail up to Salem for haunted happenings. Halloween takes place every October, they have got a lot of great events surrounding the Halloween season. The first night is always really good; it has got a lot of music, theater and parades. You buy a ticket and get into events that take place all throughout the city. It is fantastic and then there is a huge fireworks display at night. I think that's it.
