They need to understand what their general health is. What their general structural condition is, if they're having pain, where it is. And the other thing I think is what their intention is for being their. 'Why are you here?' I ask every student that walks in. 'What is it that you expect to get out of this?,' so that if their intention is, they might say, 'Well my intention is to get more flexible,' but their real intention may be to let go of some emotional thing that they have with their mother or something; they don't know that yet, but we start with where they're at. For example, someone comes in pregnant; I'm going start with the fact that they are pregnant. We'll work with that first and then if we work together for years upon years upon years, then other things are going come out that they want to work on. Intention of the student and their basic structural, physiological and emotional condition is what we kind of look at first.
