The primary fish in this lake are bass, catfish, and groupy. Another fish in the lake is gar and spoonbill, both of which are pre-historic fish. The gar is not a game fish and not considered desirable to catch or eat, however there is a snagging season for spoonbill.

We have well over 200 bass tournaments each year on Lake of the Ozarks. Our lake accounts for more revenue through bass tournaments than the combination of any three other lakes in the State of Missouri. There are two reasons, one is the quality of the fishing here in the Lake of the Ozarks, and the other reason is because we have a lot of shopping, dining, and things for the spouses to do. We have lots of bass masters and professional bass fishermen who come here and one of the reasons is because they can bring their wives and families and they won't be bored while the fisherman is out on the water.
