The official definition of diarrhea is the frequent passage of loose or watery stools. There are several causes of diarrhea. Food poisoning, eating too many fibers filled foods, a dramatic change in diet, and stress are common causes of diarrhea.

Food poisoning can be very serious. There are milder forms of food poisoning that cause diarrhea. Most often it is caused from foods left in the refrigerator one too many days and eaten. But, bacteria collect on these foods and cannot be seen by the human eye. It is suggested not to eat foods stored as leftovers if they have been stored for more than three days.

There are many fibers filled foods such as fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds, cereals, and breads. Diarrhea may occur if an over abundance of these foods are eaten. If you stick with the Suggested daily allowance of each food group you can avoid diarrhea from fiber filled foods.

It is best to try to stick with a set diet. Some of the quick weight loss "diets" can cause an unexpected occurrence of diarrhea and can be dangerous for your body. They best way to avoid any complications are to stick with a well-planned nutritional diet.

Stress is another culprit of diarrhea and other health ailments. To avoid over doing it, sit back and relax.

If you do have a flair up of diarrhea remember to drink plenty of liquids to avoid dehydration and light foods such as crackers and soups. When drinking, avoid citrus juices and alcohol, due to this will worsen the situation.
