In this case, I have an insulated slab so that I can have the hydronic system in the foundation. So from that point of view, it is different. I also have the slab ventilated. That means if any gases or anything were to accumulate underneath the slab, I vent them all the way up through the roof as opposed to letting them seep into the house. We don't have that problem in Dallas. We have a little of radon in Dallas, but not much at all. Up north you would be concerned about radon. The thing that I'm concerned about here is that we tend to fertilize our yards and put bug spray out and things like that to keep insects away from our yard. When you have a pressure area come by, it actually drives the gas down into the earth and then it comes up through holes in the slabs. Those holes are basically in the bathrooms and kitchen where plumbing comes through the slab, and I would rather not have those gases in my home.
