There are fun family activities you can do together while you are on a budget.
Even though you are on a budget, you still want to do things with your family. Spending quality time with your family is very important and that time should not be ignored. You have to find things that all of you can do together without going over the budget you have set up. What can you do as a family together that won't blow your budget?
Pick a couple of nights out of the month to go bowling. Bowling is an inexpensive thing that the entire family can do together. To make it even more fun set up your own personal bowling team. Maybe have the ladies in the family compete against the men. This is something the kids will enjoy doing even as they get older. Once a month pick a nationality and cook a meal from there. One month cook everything Italian, the next month try Chinese. Go through every nation until you have done them all, let your family vote on the top five and do those once a month for a special family dinner night. Instead of going to the movies wait until it is out on video and have movie night at home. Rent about three videos, pop some popcorn and provide your own soda. You can see three movies instead of going into a movie theater and paying what it would cost to watch one. Catch the days where you can go to the museum, zoo and art galleries half-price and only take your family on those days. Instead of going to see a play performed at the regular time, go in the afternoon which is always cheaper than regular evening performance. Take turns with your spouse to take your children individually to the play. This will save you money and each parent will get a chance to spend separate quality time with their kids. Sometimes if you wait to attend a sports event at half-time you won't have to pay for parking and the price to get in will be half-price or free. This is great to do if you don't mind missing the first half and it's more of an activity to do with your family only.
Staying on a budget is very important, especially if you are trying to accomplish something from it. But spending time and doing things with your family is just as important. There are all sorts of things you can do with your family that will let you stay on your budget and have fun without spending a lot of money at the same time.
