Fun Homeschool Student Activities

There are many fun activities for the homeschooled student to do that incorporate learning and exploring in their community, and here are some ideas and suggestions.

Homeschool students can always make room for fun activities throughout their day. There are many things that can be done that encourage learning yet are enjoyable. Listed below are a few things that can be inexpensive and easy to plan.

1. A trip to the store is a great way to learn math. A student could practice many mathematical techniques while buying little things and calculating money. Practicing with a calculator or trying to do the problems in their head can be fun activity.

2. A walk through the local park can be a fun adventure for any homeschooled science student. While discovering the things that grow and live in the park, a student can play and get a great bit of exercise. Many objects can be fun to collect and can even be brought home for an additional activity.



3. For any student that lives near a historical landmark, a field trip to learn the background the area can be a great tool to learning about that specific period in history. Students can have fun exploring while gathering all types of information to help them better understand the significance the area played in history.

4. In every season there are trees to gather leaves for a quick game of identification. The student can spend time looking for different shapes of leaves. Once they are gathered, the leaves can be matched up to the types of tree that they came from. When a family has different ages that they are teaching the activity can be broadened to meet the students skill level.

5. Activities in the home can be fun too. The kitchen is a good place to start with many fun reading or math activities while you cook. Incorporate the student with the reading any recipe and then have them do the measuring to help with their math skills. The satisfaction of the finished product quickly dissolves any dislike to learning a new process in math or reading new words.

6. Younger children like to sort items and put them in their proper places. A quick game of matching items can be planned be creating a fun activity around the chore of laundry. Many small homeschool students learn their concepts through this activity. The laundry items can be sorted by size, color, or even ownership. The activity can be played over and over again and then the clean up takes care of the chore mom needs to accomplish. This activity is a must for all homeschoolers.

7.Visiting a local nursery is a great activity for the spring. The student can help pick out flowers for the beds at home and learn many things about them while shopping. This activity can cover lots of science projects, and get the spring planting done at the same time. For older students learning about soil and what plants grow best in what conditions can broaden their understanding of chemistry and make them great gardeners. Homeschooled students will without a doubt enjoy this colorful field trip.

There are thousands of fun activities for the homeschool student to do. Every activity can be designed to meet the specific need of each family. Learning is always a priority and can be incorporated in all that is done. Setting the atmosphere for fun experiences will make the activities great memories that last a lifetime.
