The Greensboro Coliseum Complex, which, consists of War Memorial, Special Events Center, Odeon Theatre, & Pavillion, has undergone major renovations bringing the maximum arena capacity to its current 23,500. A 2,376-seat auditorium was built for the Broadway theatre and concerts; a 120,000 square foot Special Events Center for trade shows, and 20,000 square feet for meetings of all sizes. The Special Events Center also features a 4,300-seat theater set-up for concerts and sporting events. Events such as the Men's ACC Basketball Tournament, East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) hockey, and the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament have taken place here since 1959. The Coliseum has featured stars from Elvis to the Harlem Globetrotters.

You can visit the Guilford Native American Art Gallery at the Greensboro Cultural Center at Festival Park. Established in 1990, this Native American Art gallery is a fine art gallery. It has wonderful, traditional, and contemporary Native American Art. The Gallery is the only Native American Art Gallery of its kind in the Southeast. It offers exhibitions annually, and they feature local, state, regional, and international Native American artists. Through the exhibitions, the gallery provides art and educational programs.

Wet and Wild Emerald Pointe Water Park is located just south of Greensboro off Business 85 at Holden Road, Exit 34. After walking around all day, you can cool off at the largest water park in the Carolinas. With over 34 rides and attractions, there is something for everyone, from extreme thrills to floating down the river. It's fun for everyone.

Greensboro's Eastern Music Festival is located in Dana Auditorium on the campus of Guilford College in Greensboro. Some of the world's best performers come here to work, teach and perform. Music students in come from all over to see if they can get a place among the few who will be accepted to study and spend five weeks at Eastern Music Festival. Shows recorded at EMF are featured regularly on National Public Radio. Branford Marsalis with the Philharmonic, Mark O'Connor's Appalachia Waltz Trio and Cellist Matt Haimovitz are just some of the great performers that will be participating this year. Therefore, you do not want to miss the window of opportunity to see these fantastic musicians at their peak.

The North Carolina Shakespeare Festival (NCSF) at the High Point Theatre (in High Point only about 12 miles south of Greensboro) is a good attraction. The High Point Theatre is located within the International Home Furnishings Center at the corner of East Commerce Avenue and South Hamilton Street, the heart of downtown High Point. Appointed by the North Carolina State Legislature as The State Shakespeare Festival, NCSF has been producing the world's classics, particularly the works of William Shakespeare, since 1977. The plays are beautifully done, and are a joy to watch, even for those that are not well versed in Shakespeare.

If you are interested in American military history, you may want to visit the American Revolution battleground sites in Greensboro. The Guilford Courthouse National Military Battleground Park was the site of a 1781 battle in the American Revolution. There is a museum, walking trails, 28 monuments, musket demonstrations, and guided tours. The Alamance Battleground, off N.C. Highway 62 in Burlington, was the site of a 1771 battle of the Revolutionary War. Re-enactments of that battle are held often at the battleground. An audiovisual program and tours of the battlefield, monuments and the historic 1780 Allen House make for an fascinating day of learning about the 18th-century battle, but make sure you have on your walking shoes.

For great food and nightlife, try the Sheraton Greensboro Hotel at Four Seasons near the intersection of High Point Road at Interstate 40.

The BBQ is more of the eastern style, prepared with a different sauce than in locations like Kansas City in the central U.S.
