Go from basking in the beautiful gardens and architecture to basking among the beautiful people. See and be seen at South Beach. South beach is from 1st through 22nd streets along Ocean Drive in Miami. It's probably the perfect place to people watch. Since South Beach has a risqué flavor, be forewarned. There's no telling what you may see. If you like a more family-values centered atmosphere, you would want to spread your beach blanket around 2nd or 3rd streets. That's where families congregate. Take a book and a blanket and relax. Further down the beach, everyone from college students to celebrities head for a little action. This is not the place to take your significant other. Some say, that's like bringing sand to the beach. It's not uncommon to see music groups filming a video, or camera crews filming the latest movie. The sun is ferocious and draining, so bring plenty of sun block and water. In any case, avoid visiting there in the heat of the noontime sun.
If you get bored at the beach, you can take in some culture and do some shopping on Lincoln Road. The area boasts some of the most exclusive shops and art galleries in Miami. You can also visit some of bookstores or eat at a sidewalk café. Check out the Art Center, a vibrant art studio at 800 Lincoln Road, where you may watch about 40 artists at work. A sightseeing cruise on the Island Queen is the perfect way to end the day. The cruise is about 90 minutes, and is the perfect way to learn about the history of the coast along Biscayne Bay.
