If you are a sports fan, Chicago is definitely the place to be. Each of the major professional leagues has a team, sometimes two, in the Windy City. The Chicago Bulls of the NBA, and the Chicago Blackhawks of the NHL, both play in the beautiful United Center. This state of the art stadium is guaranteed to provide the most luxurious accommodations as you cheer on your favorite basketball or hockey team. If minor league hockey is more your thing, the Chicago Wolves play at the Rosemont Horizon, a short drive from downtown Chicago. For the baseball purist, there is no better ballpark in the country than Wrigley Field. From the ivy on the walls to the manually operated scoreboard, there is no better place to spend a summer afternoon"¦ even if the Cubs are losing. The White Sox play on the south side of the city, at the new Comiskey Park. If football is more your thing, the Chicago Bears play each fall at the historic Soldier's Field, right along side Lake Michigan.
If you are a culture fan, Chicago has a number of famous museums and art galleries. The Museum of Science and Industry is perfect for an afternoon with the kids. There are a lot of "hands on" activities, including a trip to a real life coalmine, and tour of a submarine. At the Field Museum, you can take a tour of world history, including the remains of a real life T-Rex dinosaur. The Museum of Contemporary Art is one of the largest in the country. It offers many exhibits featuring painting, sculptures, photography and video and film. The MCA also boasts a great view of the lake. Chicago is also known worldwide for its architecture, everything from the Sears Tower to the homes built by Frank Lloyd Wright. Architecture tours are available, with one of the best taking you on a boat ride down the Chicago River.
Did someone say shopping? Take a stroll down Michigan Avenue where you will find everything from Marshall Fields, to FAO Schweetz"¦ the candy store that features everything. And for you food lovers, take heart. Chicago's Gino's pizzeria is known worldwide for its deep-dish pizza. If you want to taste it all, check out the Taste Of Chicago.
