Baton Rouge, Louisiana's state capital, provides a wealth of fun things that couples can do. Below are ten such activities that are guaranteed to be packed with fun and romance.

TIGER STADIUM- Located on the campus of Louisiana State University, Tiger stadium is definitely one of the funnest places on earth. Tailgate with locals before football games, and you're sure to make not only great friends but also try lots of new foods native to Louisiana. The culinary feasts that are made outside of the stadium and freely shared range from local favorites like gumbo and crawfish stew to bizarre like fried alligator tails and frog legs. Like the vast majority of Louisianans, locals who tailgate outside of Tiger Stadium are always willing to make (and feed!) lasting friends. When the game starts, enjoy the ambience that is Tiger Stadium as you participate in the roar of the crowd and dance to the award winning L.S.U. band. Whether you're wearing purple and gold or are rooting for the visiting team, Tiger Stadium is sure to provide an experience that you will never forget.

OLD STATE CAPITAL MUSEUM- Located in the heart of Baton Rouge, the Old State Capital Museum provides visitors with a glimpse at Louisiana's past by using today's technology. Built in 1867, the Old State Capital Museum provides a beautiful view from which visitors can see the Mississippi River from its "castle" like building. Exhibits range from those teaching about local interests like Huey P. Long to an interactive display, "We the People," which allows visitors to learn about how our country's system of voting was established and functions today. Couples can enjoy the romantic enchantment of their surrounding while learning about Louisiana history through interactive exhibits.

CASINOS- There are two casinos that visitors to Baton Rouge can enjoy, THE ARGOSY and CASINO ROUGE. Both are located on riverboats but Casino Rouge stays dockside, while Argosy makes trips on the water. They both boast a variety of games, special events, great food and free cocktails. Both also allow for alone time, as it is not difficult to for couples to find a quiet spot to enjoy a view of the Mississippi River. Romance can also be sparked on the dance floors of either of the casinos lounges which both provide live music.

THE FUNNY BONE- Known to many as "Baton Rouge's premiere comedy club," The Funny Bone is sure to provide couples with a side-splitting time. The Funny Bone is located near the L.S.U. campus, inside of Triple A. Bar and Grill, a favorite hangout for both students and older locals. The comedians at the Funny Bone come from a variety of backgrounds, and many have a national audience. The content of each show changes depending on the comedian, so this is definitely a place that you can visit more than once.

THE VARSITY THEATRE- The best way to describe The Varsity is to say that it is a place where you can very well expect to attend the best concert of your life. The limited space allows concertgoers to bond with performers in an intimate way that is rarely experienced. Artists who have performed at the Varsity range from the Brittany Spears to Los Lobos. Though big names have graced The Varsity's stage, real talent can also be seen at the shows of some lesser-known artists. The Varsity also provides a dance floor and bar and has a nightclub atmosphere after concerts.



ZOO- The Baton Rouge Zoo is a very pretty zoo that has over 1800 animals. Couples can enjoy strolling around, hand in hand or take a ride on the Cypress Bayou Railroad. The Zoo is constantly improving and is a pride of the Baton Rouge Community. It provides an atmosphere that promises to draw couples together.

BATON ROUGE RIVER CENTER- The Baton Rouge River Center holds an arena, exhibition hall, and theater. It hosts a variety of shows and events ranging from national speakers to symphonies, ballets, expos, Broadway series' and other plays, etc.

BLUE BAYOU WATER PARK/DIXIE LANDIN' AMUSEMENT PARK- If you want a day filled with sun and fun, you will not be disappointed with Blue Bayou Water Park and Dixie Landin' Amusement Park. At Blue Bayou, you can feel the thrill as you ride on one of its exciting water slides, including the Conja, which is the world's largest water slide. After experiencing Blue Bayou hop on next door to Dixie Landin' where you can experience a very fun amusement park that features twenty-six rides and several games.

LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY- Enjoy a picnic or a romantic stroll around the beautiful campus of Louisiana State University. The Lakes of LSU provide beautiful views while picnicking, bike riding, or roller blading. LSU also allows visitors to attend many free attractions including Museums of Natural History and Science, an art gallery, etc. Also, be sure to call the Schools of Music and Theatre to see if any performances will take place during your visit.

TABBY'S BLUES BOX AND HERITAGE HALL- From the outside, many would not expect Tabby's Blues Box and Heritage Hall to be a very romantic place. However, after entering Tabby's and listening for a short while, couples are sure to be enchanted with the performances taking place on stage. An intimate environment allows couples to lose themselves in the moment while participating in the magic that is Tabby's.
