Galveston Texas is a fun destination for couples. This Gulf Coast community offers visitors Moody Gardens, Ashton Villa, Galveston Island State Park, The Strand, Texas Seaport Museum, Stewart Beach, Lone Star Flight Museum, East Beach, Bishop's Palace,

Moody Gardens and Offatt's Bayou are both located on the West Side of Galveston. Moody Gardens is a tropical rain forest built inside a glass pyramid. Inside this glass pyramid is waterfalls, cliffs, butterflies, birds, fish and bats. There are also two other pyramids located here with a pool, beach, spa and hotel. Offatt's Bayou is another attraction in this area of Galveston. Here the couple can take a cruise on a paddlewheel, enjoy the scenic shore while walking down a trail or spend time on Palm Beach.

While downtown Galveston, the couple can visit The Strand, Texas Seaport Museum, Harbor Tours, Bishop's Palace, Ashton Villa, Samuel May Williams Home, Michel B. Menard Home, and the Railroad Museum. The Strand, also known as the Wall Street of the Southwest, allows visitors the opportunity to step back in time, complete with gaslights, upmarket shops, restaurants and galleries. The Texas Seaport Museum explores the history of Galveston Island and houses a restored 1877 ship. Harbor Tours will take the couple on a 90-minute tour of Galveston's historical business area. Bishop's Palace, one of the old homes located between the Strand and the beaches is an 1893 home of Walter Gresham who was a Confederate Colonel and later became a U.S. Congressman. Another old home in the area is Ashton Villa, an antebellum home, built in the Victorian Italianate style. This home, built in 1859, became available to the public in 1974 and shows films of the 1900 hurricane. Samuel May Williams Home, another home in this area, is an 1839 New England building that was moved to Galveston from Maine. One other old home to visit while in the area is the Michel B. Menard Home, a wooden structure built in 1838 that is furnished with American antiques. There are these homes and more in the Galveston area if the couple is interested in touring them.



Galveston also has parks if the couple enjoys camping, hiking, bird watching, biking or swimming. These parks are Galveston Island State Park, Seawolf Park, and Big Reef Nature Park. If the couple is looking for something a little different, Galveston can offer that as well simply by taking a trip on one of the Island Carriages, taking a Treasure Island Train Tour or even a Galveston Duck Tour.

Of course, any couple visiting Galveston, can be sure that they have the opportunity to enjoy the beaches in the area should they desire to do so. Galveston has Stewart Beach, which is the closes to downtown, is geared toward family fun and is generally more crowded than the other beaches in the are. Another beach located further east is R.A. Apfell Park. This beach is generally quieter than Stewart Beach is, but does offer some activities on weekends.

Galveston Texas can be a great place for a couple to visit, no matter what they are interested in doing. Not only does it offer interesting and amusing activities, it has great accommodations and fine dining as well.
