Each human is different and a different amount of sleep is needed per individual. But, they have realized that, on average, a person should obtain seven to eight hours of sleep in one setting.
If you feel that some days you are more tired than other days; it is recommended to determine the right amount of sleep that you need. Researchers have suggested keeping a sleep journal for two weeks. In this journal record activity that you did before going to bed, what time you went to bed, how you slept, what time you awoke, and how you felt when you awakened. At the end of the two-week period, look back in the journal and see what nights you slept best. This will be the amount of sleep and the activities that need to be undertaken, to obtain a good night's rest.
