Golf Wedding Favor Ideas

Fun ideas for a variety golf-themed wedding favors.

Themed weddings are always fun to put together and to be invited to.They provide an easier method of organizing the whole event, and when they include activities before or after the actual wedding ceremony, they can make for a fabulous day of celebration.

A golf-themed wedding provides an ideal combination of fun and relaxation for everyone in the wedding party.Whether the celebration is simply taking place near a golf course, or the wedding party has arranged a golfing vacation for its guests, a golf-related theme carrying through the festivities is charming and fun for everyone.

It can be hard, though, to successfully and creatively use the theme throughout the celebration.Wedding favors are a great way to reiterate the golfing theme while still celebrating the bride and groom's commitment to each other. Some of the most common and successful themed favors are included below.Remember that your wedding can customize any of the suggested favors by including a special quote or saying, the date of the wedding and the names of the bride and groom. Many of the favors can be further personalized by using the wedding colors as well.

1. Golf Tees. The classic golfing staple can be used as an attractive and useful wedding favor.Though it can be expensive or impractical to have the tees themselves personalized, consider ordering them in the colors featured in the wedding ceremony and reception.Have the tees packaged in attractive cellophane bags with the names of the bride and groom for a classic presentation. For a fun twist, you could also package them like tiny flower bouquets: small cellophane bags filled with embroidery flowers (found at a crafts or sewing store) can be fitted over the tops of the tees.Use a rubber band to tie the "stems" of the tees together, holding the cellophane in place.

2. Golf Balls.Though extremely practical and not incredibly attractive, golf balls are very easily customizable. The bride and groom can easily purchase a hand-operated machine that can imprint a set of initials or monogram onto the balls, or request that a pro-shop perform the personalization for an added fee.Unlike many favors, golf balls are sure to be used by the guests who receive them, bringing to mind happy memories of the wedding day long after the event is over.

3. Chocolate Golf Balls.Candy is always a safe and delicious bet for wedding favors.Chocolate golf balls tend to be available from novelty sweets stores practically year round, and are a good bet for any bride or groom faced with a strict budget. If you have trouble locating a supplier, ask around. Many specialty candy stores are happy to special order for you if you give them enough advance notice.

4. Golf Towels. For an all-inclusive wedding and golf weekend, personalized golf towels make a charming, unexpected and highly useful gift.It is easy to have golf towels embroidered at any local tailor; look in the phone book for businesses that specialize in embroidery or wedding favor personalization. The towels themselves you will probably need to purchase separately, but check first with the tailor: they sometimes get special bulk deals from manufacturers. It is also worth it to check around a little bit before giving you business to an embroiderer; check prices and the quality of the work by looking at sample books before you buy.

5. Mini Bottles of Scotch and Shot Glasses.Though this favor relies more on the Scottish origins of golf than golf itself, it is nonetheless always a well-received favor.Prices can run a bit higher than for other favors, so it works best for lavish budgets and smaller celebrations. If children will be present, make sure to offer a second, more appropriate favor for them, such as chocolate golf balls.Feel free to also personalize the shot glasses; they are simple to etch at home with a kit from a crafts store, or to buy from a company who will do it for you.
