I think any of the step classes, aerobics classes or circuit training classes are great ones. I think older people are starting to attend yoga classes. Usually half of the class is 50 or over and they get lot of benefits from that. Water aerobics are great, particularly when we are dealing with a little bit of excess weight. It would be hard on the joints if you are actually out there running or jogging but in the pool you have some buoyancy there and takes a little pressure off the knee and hip joints. You can actually do fairly good aerobic workout without straining your body too badly.
Those same exercises are not good for men and women. There is a little bit of difference in the musculature between women and men. Not too much difference but male and female components become closer together as you age because lose a little bit of the testosterone and estrogen you had when you were younger. Bodies will actually become a little bit closer in comparison.
