There are several things that make a good dance shoe. It first has to be made of good material, have a good fit, and have good construction. Construction is how the shoe is made and tells how long it's going to last without falling apart. Working with dancers, we make sure their feet fit in a particular shoe. Something Capezio is constantly doing is getting feedback from the dancers. Most of our inspiration comes from the dancers, because they are the people wearing the shoes. I run focus groups and I'm constantly asking what dancers think of shoes. Just like a baseball player uses a bat or a mitt, a dancer's shoe is her tool. It's important that we put a lot of time and energy into the foot testing and wearing process, so that it's a perfect tool for them. So, what makes a good dance shoe is material, fit, testing, and of course style.
