First, find somebody who inspires you right from the start. If you are going to take a dance class just for fun, you might not want to go to a teacher who is going to crack a whip on you or yell at you if you miss a turn or something. Also look for a teacher who is clear with their movements and what they want from the student or who can explain something well. A good teacher also gives incredible individual corrections. They can look at a student and say, "I need you to do this with your body, because I can see that your body is doing this differently." For me, I like to work with a teacher who is fun and who is going to make the process a lot easier.
