They always need to make sure that there are no health issues, especially with the heart. Their doctor can tell them what the limit of their heart rate should be. With seniors who haven't been very active I would suggest walking. Our area here has a mall that's climate controlled with air conditioning. I would suggest starting walking in an environment like that. Then they can increase by adding weights and after you've done that about three or four months then you could start into one of the programs that has machines or weight lifting type activity. I truly think it's never too late to start, but you should do it slowly so there's no chance of injury. I always worry about someone stressing their heart if they've never been on an exerciser, but if they have exercised all their life they can just continue to do what they've been doing unless their doctor prevents them from doing it.
