Overview
Goodwill has long been known for receiving donations of household items and apparel and selling them through their retail thrift locations. Goodwill also happily accepts vehicles including cars, motorcycles, ATVs, RVs, boats, jet skis, trucks and vans. The Goodwill of Colorado accepts vehicle donations through three major locations: Colorado Springs, Denver and Pueblo.
Goodwill's Good Works
Goodwill Industries of Colorado is an organization whose purpose is to provide job training for individuals with disabilities, those entering the work force for the first time, and men and women who require retraining to remain productive. Goodwill's focus on what individuals can contribute to society, as opposed to their perceived challenges, has helped thousands of its clients to enter the work force with pride.
Benefits of Donating a Vehicle
a) No hassle: Instead of trying to sell a car privately, or take a low value from a car dealership, an individual can donate their vehicle to the Goodwill quickly and easily.
b) It's a feel-good experience: Donating your vehicle to the Goodwill is a generous gesture - an action you can be proud of.
c) Tax benefits: Your contribution is tax-deductible.
How to Donate a Vehicle to The Goodwill of Colorado Springs
The Goodwill of Colorado Springs accepts vehicles in one of three ways:
a) Drive your vehicle to a retail location and drop it off. Bring your title, sign it over to the Goodwill and give them your keys.
b) Bring your title and keys to a retail location, sign over the title and Goodwill will go to your home and pick up the vehicle.
c) Call and make an appointment, and Goodwill will come to you and drive or tow your vehicle.
To make an appointment, call (719) 633-1988.
The Goodwill of Colorado Springs does not refer people who donate vehicles to a third party. Their organization has its own tow trucks and drivers to pick up vehicles. Their in-house administration of the donation process allows a greater percentage of each donation's proceeds to be contributed to their organization. They also work in partnership with other nonprofits in the area, helping those organizations to process donated vehicles.

The Goodwill of Denver accepts vehicle donations working in partnership with Cars For Charity.

How to Donate a Vehicle to the Goodwill of Pueblo

How big of a deduction will I get?
When you donate your vehicle, you can elect to claim its fair market value up to $500. The owner of any vehicle, whose value exceeds $500 at auction, will be mailed a receipt for the actual sale amount. The actual sale price of the vehicle is the maximum deduction you will receive for your donation.
For instance, if you were to donate a 1999 Nissan Altima, and it sold at auction for $2000, your deduction would be $2000 - even if its listed Blue Book value is higher. The IRS only allows deduction of the gross sale price (reflecting the actual benefit to Goodwill).
Does the vehicle need to be operational?
Goodwill accepts vehicles that are no longer operational.
