Greece Vacation In Molyvos

Greece vacation in Molyvos, a stylish city in the north part of Lesbos with its panoramic view, its Castle, its beautiful restaurants and bars.

Lesbos, the third biggest island of Greece, is slowly opening its doors to foreign tourism. Molyvos, probably the most touristic resort of the area, offers tourists the unique opportunity to meet a city as stylish and elegant as no other on the island.

On your way to Molyvos, the first thing you'll clearly make out is the castle, built on the top of the mountain. Molyvos has been constructed amphitheatrically giving tourists the pleasure of admiring the whole bay from the top. The beach is pebbly and the water extremely cold but if you take into consideration the fact that you are swimming in the open sea opposite Turkey, this is something to be expected. This clean, icy water is clearly the element of life and what better way to experience it than by jumping into the cold hydro-massage!

The bars and cafes right next to the beach add their own exotic touch to the whole atmosphere. Sip a palatable fruit cocktail in Congas bar while admiring their uniquely Brazilian decoration. Nod off on their luxurious swing while being carried away by the DJ's music mastery.

Molyvos is everything you could ask for when it comes to tasting some of the most saporous cuisine. You want a Chef Special? Beef, bechamel, pepper, French fries and rice. A Kleftiko perhaps? Lamb, tomato, garlic, feta cheese all wrapped into tinfoil and cooked in the oven. No matter what you are hungry for, we suggest you satiate your appetite in Molyvos Stars, a restaurant which like many others offers a uniquely panoramic view of the city.

The city of Molyvos consists of one main road, Kastro Street, which leads to the castle. On your way to the Fortress of Molyvos, stop to admire the different art creations in stores like "Kivotos" and "To Skalopati" at 28 Kastro St. Decorative articles for the house, artistic fans, vases, carpets, jewelery, wooden tables, items of exquisite artistry and impressive, colourful combinations play a beautiful game to the visitor's eyes.

The Fortress of Molyvos, on the top of the mountain, was built in the north part of Lesbos during the Byzantine period and was extensively repaired and enlarged by the Genoese. The Turks, who conquered the island in the 19th century, sought to preserve it in good condition because of its strategic importance. Indeed, the Castle offers tourists the great opportunity to take photos of the whole city as well as of the Turkish coast which is not far away and can be clearly seen by the naked eye. Many a times theatrical plays are put on to create a beautiful atmosphere.

Molyvos or Mithimna is probably the most touristic resort of Lesbos, but the island is slowly developing. On your way to Molyvos, you'll see Petra, a small fishing village. Other cities worth visiting are Kalloni, Aggiassos, Sigri and Mitilini, the capital of Lesbos.

Lesbos can also boast an Olympic champion, since Kostas Kenteris was the sprinter to win in the 200m.
