Step 1
Measure your window. Take down the length between the top of the overhang above the window and the bottom sill. (Remember that the blinds cover the window frame, too, so don't just measure the glass part of the window.) Then record the width of the window frame. Measure from the inside, since the blinds will need to tuck into the frame so they don't jut out from the wall. If you're going for a wide slat, measure the depth of your window, too. If you get one that is too wide, it could hit the window when you try to open your blinds.

Use your measurements to purchase your blinds. You may have to custom order if your windows are not a standard size. If you plan to use one set of blinds across two windows, order an extra bracket for the middle, for a total of three.

Place the bracket for the left end of the blinds flush against the window frame at the top left corner with the open side facing toward you. Mark where the holes in the bracket meet the wall. Then drill a hole in each spot. Repeat this procedure for the right side, using your laser level to line up the holes with the ones on the left. You need them to be parallel or your blinds will hang crooked. If you have a center bracket, mark the exact center of the top of the window frame and drill one hole on each side of this mark at the same level as the other two sets of holes. Use the screwdriver to hang each bracket.

Carefully lift your blinds and place the headrail in the brackets. Then slide the caps into the front of the brackets (these are small flat pieces of metal or plastic that should have been included with your blinds). They should fit perfectly without you having to force them. Unknot the tension cord and make sure the blinds move up and down without falling out of the brackets.

Step 5
Find the hook for the closing rod (which is attached to the blinds) and put the rod in place by feeding the hook through the hole in the top of the rod. Turn the rod to make sure the blinds rotate as they should.
