Want to be spooked in between all of that beach-volleyball-playing and sunbathing? Then visit one of these haunted sites in Corpus Christi, Texas.
U.S.S. Lexington
Floating on the bay, this looming ship looks like it should, indeed, be haunted. At night, blue lights radiating all over, the ship is known by locals as "The Blue Ghost." Some tourists have reportedly been helped out by a young 19 or 20 year old man in the engine room with piercing blue eyes. In fact, if you go to the website, there is a web cam installed in that room that viewers can look at to see if they spot his ghost. Others tell the story of a work crew whose project was a large painting assignment. They took a short break and came back to find the entire painting job was completed by someone or something unknown.
Wilson Tower
The Wilson Tower was built in the 1950s and contained a four-story penthouse that was the site of many elite and lavish parties. Some say that the ghost of Mrs. Wilson still lurks in this area, as she continues to oversee the tower and its going-ons. Some who work in this tower often report strange shadows and sounds that occur when they are in their office alone. Others who have been in this tower say that elevators you are riding will stop at various floors for no reason and that they have felt a presence of a spirit walking into the elevator.
Old Nueces County Courthouse
It is no secret that many criminals were convicted and executed within these walls, so you can imagine the many spirits that dwell within. One story states that a young boy visited the courthouse on Halloween only to be pushed out of the courthouse by some unknown spirit. He died when he hit the pavement below. Others say that the spirits of those killed when a man went down to the post office and, essentially, "went postal" still haunt the building today.
Calallen High School
Nobody knows for sure if it is an urban legend or a real tale, but some students claim that an elevator located next to the theater arts room is haunted, as the doors often open and close by themselves. Some of the janitorial staff has also reported seeing the spirit of a young girl roaming the halls.
Del Mar College
Del Mar, a community college located in Corpus Christi, is also said to be quite haunted. It has been said that the Memorial Classroom building is the site of this haunting. Specifically, room 222, is where the janitorial staff states they have seen and heard weird things like laughing and howling. Other staff members have heard what they felt was all of the furniture getting pushed around, despite the fact that it was much too late for anyone to be moving furniture.
