What are the health benefits of yoga? Yoga's health benefits include the strengthening of the respiratory system, digestive system, heart and circulatory system, endocrine system, and reproductive system.

The health and fitness benefits in some ways tie together. The fitness benefits to me would be more of a physical benefit, but the health benefits involve all of the systems. Yoga helps to strengthen and tone your lungs, your respiratory system, your heart and circulatory system, your digestive system, and your reproductive system. The endocrine system is very important for boosting the immune system and for regulating hormones. You are healthier, because all of your systems are working correctly when your body is in alignment. It doesn't have to work so hard to function. I tell my students that it's like, if you are walking up a flight of stairs huffing and puffing, it doesn't seem to be healthy. If you can walk up the flight of stairs without all the huffing and puffing, your body is working at maximum with a minimal amount of effort. That's what yoga does to help your body stay healthier things like pulled muscles or getting sick don't happen so easily. You're able to heal more quickly, relax more easily, and are better able to concentrate.
