Step 1
Remove all of the contents of the printer's box and make sure that all of the components are included. Check the fold out poster or text instructional manual included with the printer as they will show you what cables and CDs should be present. Return the printer to the store for an exchange if you are missing any parts.

Untie any twist ties that may be connecting the cables or printer to cardboard or Styrofoam backing. Remove the strips of tape and pieces of cloth holding down the moving pieces of the printer.

Turn on your computer and put the installation disc into your CD drive. Follow the prompts that come up to begin the installation process.

Connect the power cord to your printer and then plug it into a electrical outlet. Connect the USB or serial cable to your printer and then connect the other end to your computer when the installation software tells you to.

Remove the ink cartridges from their packages and pull the strip of tape off the back. Open the printer's top segment and snap the ink cartridges into place.

Choose the option on the screen to print a test page to ensure that the printer is working properly.
