Lenox actually started making flatware under the previous brand, Kirk Stieff. They bought that flatware company and started doing Stainless Steel. They decided to drop the Kirk Steiff name and name it Lenox, since Lenox is a much more powerful name.

Lenox started off with dinnerware. Then, they got into the crystal business and started developing crystal as well. Then, they got into flatware. They also got into giftware. The ivory porcelain giftware with gold accents and other recognizable things like that is what they started making.

The original owner of Lenox was Walter Lenox. He started the whole thing. He started the big company in Trenton, New Jersey.
