No matter what type of hunting you do, in the stand, out in the filed, or trudging across a marsh to get to the perfect blind, there are pants on the market geared specifically for your style of hunting. With more and more manufacturers looking to fill the needs of individual hunters, a wide selection of styles is available for the choosing.
Fatigues
Natural Gear™ offers a fatigue style pant in their camouflage that allows the wearer to blend effortlessly into their woodland surroundings. The fabric, 8-oz. sueded cotton, is quiet, and extremely efficient in blending your outline into the natural surroundings. This is a perfect solution for the archer who wants to make every effort available to increase his chances in field.
Ghillie 3D Style
Cabela’s, which offers innovative clothing and gear, have outdone their selves once more. Their ghillie line (for those not familiar with this style of concealment, head to a Cabela’s store or their online storefront to check it out!) includes pants with typical snap and zipper closure, but that is where the typical ends. Other manufacturers have produced clothing that looks similar, but is heavy and cumbersome, while Cabela’s has managed to produce theirs in a 100% polyester mesh that is both lightweight, easy to maneuver in, and available in the ever popular Advantage Timber® or Mossy Oak® New Break-Up camouflage patterns.
Denim
Popular long before camouflage was considered outside the battlefield, denim is now available in numerous camouflage patterns. Cabela’s offers both insulated and un-insulated versions for the serious hunter who wants a pant to hold up through thick brush and get better with age. Like any jean material, the more you wash and wear them, the softer they become. Both styles have typical denim styling, including five-pocket design. Their insulated version for those cold mornings has an added 100-gram Thermolite® Plus Insulation, just enough to ward off the chill, but thin enough to keep the pants comfortable. To make sure they are a perfect fit Cabela’s includes free hemming. Both styles are available in Seclusion 3D™, Mossy Oak® New Break-Up™, Advantage Timber®, and Realtree Hardwoods Green® HD™ camouflage patterns.
Wool
At one time in history, every serious hunter owned a pair of wool pants. Many modern day hunters still swear by them. Personally, I consider them a top contender when heading out during the cold months. Simply because wool has the ability to keep the wearer warm even when wet. The advantage of wool products today over those from the past is two-fold. The style of pants today may resemble those of the past but wear a pair and you will realize that modern technology has found its way to increase the comfort level, and it use to be that if you wanted to wear wool, that meant you had a choice between red, green, brown, and maybe plaid. . Columbia Sportswear Company® offers the Gallatin Range Wool Pants™ for the hunter on the prowl for the perfect pair, and is available in brown camouflage.
Besides these styles and design features, hunting pants are also available with scent blocking for the ultimate stalker, additional 3D styling, lightweight for warm weather wear, traditional field style, shorts, bibs, fleece, and literally thousands of combinations. If you are unsure of the style of pant your next hunting expedition is going to require, or just want to see what is new in the market of hunting and archery pants, head to your local sporting goods store, a Bass Pro Shop, Cabela's, or even browse these or other sporting goods stores online. You are sure to find the perfect match for your next hunt.
